Like that little opening quote there? I feel it represents how I'm feeling right now - not just in general, but about this blog.
I know I know, I've been neglectful and there has been a lack of updates and I'm sorry! Life is just happening, and it's pretty feirce right now and time just slipped away from me. MADNESS! I know, excuses excuses. I'm hoping this post will make up for it and win your forgiveness.
What's new and thrilling?! Let's see. Steve and I are doing bootcamp classes at Gordy's Boot Camp (Yonge & Wellesley area). We are only four classes in, but so far so good. It's tough. We've been going to classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays and then a weekend class (either Saturday or Sunday). It's one month unlimited until March 24. We thought we would give it a whirl and see how we like it and go from there. The verdict so far? We are very out of shape, haha. BUT, it's getting easier - and at least we're doing SOMETHING!
Okay. So onto our home updates. There have been a couple of small updates/decor additions that I'm want to share.
As you know we replaced our living room window and our (master) bedroom window (see entry about that here ) a few months back. Great investment, still super glad we did it. Now that we have this super bright window, we wanted to....cover it up? Well not exactly cover it, but find a window covering for it. Our house is on a main street, and although there isn't a TON of foot traffic, it's still much busier than a side-street with respect to traffic and passerbyers. So we wanted something that offered us privacy when we wanted it, but still allowed for light when we wanted it. We also decided to invest in a bit more of a higher end covering since this window is such a main part of the space, and also for resale value down the road (although this wasn't a huge deciding factor). We met with someone from Budget Blinds and the experience was great! The Rep called to set up an appointment with me, and she came to our house one weeknight, to take measurements, discuss the different type of window treatments available, and answered any/all questions that we had or that one would have about custom window coverings. She provided us with a quote, and there was a massive deal happening in Feburary, so we saved a little bit because of that as well.
So in went our order, and two weeks later, BAM! New solar rollar shade is here! We went with a solar rollar shade in a neutral ivory (rather than a stark white). The solar rollar shade was the best choice for this space because we wanted something that, during the day will let the light in but still offer privacy when down, and then at night will offer full privacy when down.
Here are a couple of photos!

Here's a shot of the shade all the way down, at dusk.....
Pretty nice, right? We love how it looks and was exactly what we were looking for. I would recommend Budget Blinds if you're looking for a really quality custom window covering, and are willing to pay a little more, but don't want to break the bank. Also - who doesn't love when the store comes to you? That was a pretty good selling feature for us.
Okay, so what else do I got? Oh yeah! I can't remember if I mentioned, but I ordered these awesome screened cushion covers for our couches from Etsy.ca. It's funny because we didn't have cushions on our couches for a few years, and so I went a little overboard and now we have a total of 6 cushions for a couch and loveseat. Ah well, you know what they say (re: I say) - you can't have too many cushions (I also don't think I've said the word "cushion" so much at one time before).
I found this shop on Etsy, and the owner is actually in Leaside! So I ended up ordering some from her as I loved her prints, but saved on shipping by going and picking them up at her condo.
Here are a few pics of them:

This one's for Steve....
So there you have it! Window shades and pillow covers! Huzzah! There will be more updates, and I will be sure to try and keep the updates a little more frequent than they've been. There are a few other updates I will leave for next time. Until then, have a great week!
