Well here we are guys and dolls! A brand new year. 2015! The future is now!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday (whether it be Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, Chrismukkah, or whatever you choose to celebrate) and enjoyed time with family, friends and maybe that show you're obsessed with, that perhaps you binge watched it over the break (like I did, ha!).
It was a busy time for the Jack-Miles-Berrys over the holidays. Spent Christmas Eve in Courtice ON., then headed up to Aurora for dinner. Stayed over there, and then Boxing Day we drove up north for a week in the wilderness at my parents new house. The holidays are always a good time, but definitely busy, hectic and a lot of over-indulging.
Now we're back at it, and in full force! Still loving the new front door and the new windows (see previous post), and really happy we had them installed when we did. It got REALLY cold after the new year, so it's definitely helped keep the warmth in and cold out. Now we're moving onto the next update!
Starting Monday, we're having the main space (living, dining & hallway) painted! YAY! We decided not to tackle this project ourselves, since there are quite a few repairs/touch-ups that need to be done on the walls and the baseboards. A lot of holes need to be patched up, some sanding, and caulking along the baseboards to fill gaps. We decided to hire professionals to do this, because I don't trust myself to do a good enough job for a space that's used the most, haha! Plaster can be tricky! The company we've hired, ColourWorks Painting Design painted our last condo, and are awesome! Dee (owner and paint aficionado) is GREAT. Really personable and really takes the time to go over what you're vision is and answers any/all questions (and trust me, I always have a lot of questions, haha). Here is their page on Homestars if you wanted to read some reviews: http://homestars.com/companies/2668314-colourworks-painting.
We decided to go with neutral gray colours - to keep the space bright, and to act as a good base for different pops of colour and textures in the furniture, art, accessories/decor we'll choose for the space over the years.
So what are the colours you ask? We are going with two. One will be the main colour, and then we'll have a darker shade for the accent walls (hall wall and the fireplace wall).
Main colour is Gull Wing Gray by Benjamin Moore:

The accent wall colour will be Whale Gray, also by Benjamin Moore:
The ceilings will be getting a fresh coat of white paint (there is a bit of a two-toned thing happening right now, so it will be good to even it out), as will the trim and baseboards.
So we're pretty pumped about this! The walls are currently white, with one deep red wall, but we're looking forward to seeing the space change and go from what it was.....to what is is now - ours!
I will post an update as soon as the painting is done, which will be later this week. In the meantime - here are the before pictures again....
